August 2011

Dear Collegiate Agricultural Leader:

We are excited to invite you to participate in the third annual College Aggies Online program, an initiative of the Animal Agriculture Alliance.

As you know, it is important that stakeholders involved in production agriculture take proactive steps to tell the industry's true story. Today's farmers and ranchers make it possible for Americans to enjoy the safest, most affordable and most abundant food supply in the world.

Too often, activists are the ones telling the story a misleading story about how farm animals are raised and food is produced. These radical groups are well-organized, well-funded, and dedicated eliminating the entire animal agriculture industry. The threats are real and the potential impact is enormous.

We need your help! If you are interested in promoting agriculture, we encourage you to participate in the third College Aggies Online competition. Participants will receive training and instructions from industry professionals and will enjoy access to a private forum, accessible at http://aggiesonline.ning.com, to post information about current and emerging issues facing farmers and ranchers.

The online community will provide you with resources on key issues to help you better utilize social media tools such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to share agriculture's story with the public. After personalizing your account, you will be able to earn points for your campus club or organization by posting blogs, photos and videos to the forum and by participating in online outreach activities.

College Aggies Online will officially launch on October 3, 2011 and the final point counts will be tallied in April 2012. The top-scoring club will receive a $1000 scholarship, national recognition and a trip for one representative to travel to Washington, D.C. for the Alliance's annual Stakeholders Summit. Additional recognition and prizes will be awarded to the runner-up in the club competition and to the two top-placing individual competitors.

You can begin personalizing your account immediately. Program materials are available on the Animal Agriculture Alliance website at www.animalagalliance.org. If you have any questions, please contact Krissa Welshans at krissa.g.thom@gmail.com or (703) 562-1410.

We urge you to help ensure the future of our great industry by joining College Aggies Online!

Sincerely,

Kay Johnson Smith
