Deceptive Videos Unfairly Attack Farmers
December 15, 2010 - Farmers and ranchers dedicate their lives to the health and well-being of their animals in order to ensure that the food they produce for the public- and their own families- is wholesome and safe. Today, America's farm families are under attack from activist groups such as the Humane Society of the United States. November 9, 2010 - The Animal Agriculture Alliance is disappointed that yet another state has fallen victim to legislation introduced by animal rights extremists. Despite opposition from 103 of the state's 116 districts, an expensive campaign to regulate dog breeders in Missouri led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) narrowly succeeded on November 2. October 13, 2010 - The October 7 episode of the The Doctor Oz Show promised to reveal to viewers the "truth" about the chicken industry. Unfortunately, host Dr. Mehmet Oz repeated many myths about poultry production to his studio audience that simply aren't true. Veal Video Reveals Extremist Agenda
September 2, 2010- A deceptive new video from extremist organization Mercy for Animals has revealed the vegan activist group's complete disregard for the authority of the Ohio Livestock Care Standards Board. In a highly-edited video released August 31, Mercy for Animals attempted to confuse viewers by splicing together images of a properly managed Ohio veal farm with dated footage depicting cruelty past condemned by the entire agriculture industry. Narration by celebrity activist Bob Barker featured animal rights terminology and falsely accused farm operators of animal abuse. More.

Extreme Caution Urged in Hiring Practices
June 21, 2010 - The Animal Agriculture Alliance urges farm managers to be watchful for a number of individuals who have been found responsible for some of the latest undercover activist videos released to the media and public in the past year.  The Alliance recommends that all producers ensure high standards of animal welfare by following approved industry guidelines. The Alliance has long condemned the abuse and mistreatment of animals raised for food and works to promote animal care guidelines on all farms across the United States. HSUS Targets Egg Producers
April 5, 2010 - The Humane Society of the United States recently released video recorded by an undercover activist alleging charges of animal cruelty against two of the country's largest egg farms. The two-minute video, taken on a camera phone, was presented to reporters and the pubic after being highly edited. The Alliance has had longstanding concern with these types of videos. Undercover activists have increasingly sought illicit employment with the purpose of securing video- at any means necessary- to portray food producers in disparaging ways. More.

Food, Inc. has gained widespread attention since its release in June 2009. Robert Kenner's film promises viewers that they will never look at dinner the same way again. Unfortunately, Food, Inc. blurs the line between fact and fiction and has misled millions about the reality of modern food production. On the eve of Food, Inc.'s nomination for an Oscar in the Best Documentary category, the Animal Agriculture Alliance would like to remind viewers of the film that it does not accurately represent today's food system. Statement on Mercy for Animals Video

While the Animal Agriculture Alliance is disappointed by the images of alleged animal cruelty documented in an undercover video released last week by animal activist group Mercy for Animals (MFA), it is also dismayed that several news organizations have used footage from a single location to denounce the entire dairy industry as inhumane. The video depicts unsatisfactory conditions that are not representative of America's dairy families as a whole. The Alliance has long condemned the abuse and mistreatment of animals raised for food and works to promote animal care guidelines on all farms across the United States. More.

Misguided Reporting Reveals Bias

The Animal Agriculture Alliance is disappointed by the many unsubstantiated claims portrayed as fact in the widespread Associated Press article entitled Pressure Rises to Stop Antibiotics in Agriculture. Released on Dec. 29, the story was the third installment of a five-part series about antibiotic resistance in the United States. Unfortunately, the authors did not offer a balanced analysis of the complex issue, instead relying on biased sources to portray America's food producers in a negative light. More.
